An iPhone gets two kinds of zombie games Android doesn't: full console remakes of Resident Evil on the newest iPhones, and Apple Arcade games with no ads or in-app purchases at all. It also gets almost every big Android zombie game. So this list mixes the three, and says for each what it costs on the App Store, which iPhone it needs and whether it plays without the internet.
Every fact below was read from the App Store pages in November 2026.
Town of the Undead — the cozy pick on this list: farm by day, hold the fence at night. One price on the App Store, no ads, offline, on iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs.
We started from the 23 zombie games we check for our Android and iPhone lists, added the zombie games that only make sense on iOS (the Resident Evil ports, Apple Arcade), and kept the strongest of each type. We wrote Town of the Undead, so it's here as the cozy pick, labeled; judge it by the same facts as the rest.

The picks
1. Resident Evil 2
Free to try, $39.99 game · no ads · offline: internet at start · iPhone 15 Pro+, M1 iPad, Mac
Best survival horror. The real console game, not a mobile spin-off: the police station, the sewers, Mr. X following you. It needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer (A17 Pro chip), an M1 iPad or newer, or an Apple silicon Mac, and a controller is recommended. Free to try, $39.99 to unlock; it wants the internet when it starts.
Free to try, $59.99 game · no ads · offline: not confirmed · iPhone 15 Pro+, M1 iPad, Mac
Best console action on a phone. The 2023 remake against the infected villagers of rural Spain, on the same devices as Resident Evil 2. Free to try, $59.99 to unlock, the most expensive game here, and your saves move between iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Best survival crafting. The deepest loot-craft-build loop on mobile, with raids on other players' bases. It needs the internet and progress leans on in-app purchases.
Apple Arcade · no ads · offline: not confirmed · iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro
Best Apple Arcade zombie game. A Vampire Survivors-style brawler with Kunio and the River City cast against hordes of the dead, new in 2026. Part of an Apple Arcade subscription, so no ads and no in-app purchases, and it runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro.
Free + IAP · ads · offline: not confirmed · iPhone, iPad, Mac
Best quick defense. Stand your ground against an endless horde with guns, traps and pets; one of the best-rated zombie games on the App Store (4.8 from 32K ratings). Free with ads.
$5.99 once · no ads · offline: yes, fully · Android, iOS
Best cozy zombie game. Farm and rebuild by day, hold the fence for a minute at night, rescue two dozen neighbors and drive to seven places. One price, no ads, no in-app purchases, plays offline, on iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs. (Our game; new on the App Store in 2026.)
Best for: a calm zombie game you pay for once and play ten minutes at a time
The Resident Evil games are the only ones here with a hard limit: an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max or any iPhone 16 or newer (the A17 Pro chip or later), an iPad with an M1 chip or newer, or a Mac with Apple silicon. On an older iPhone the App Store won't install them. Everything else on this list runs on any iPhone from the last several years.
Both Resident Evil games recommend a controller (PlayStation, Xbox or MFi); the rest play fine with touch.
Apple Arcade: zombie games without ads
Apple Arcade games come with the subscription and can't show ads or sell anything inside the game. River City Survivors is its zombie game for 2026. If you'd rather pay once than subscribe, the paid games here (Death Road to Canada, Undead Horde, Town of the Undead) have no ads and no in-app purchases either; see zombie games with no ads or in-app purchases.
For horror, Resident Evil 2 (iPhone 15 Pro or newer). For survival crafting, Last Day on Earth. For a cozy game with no ads that plays offline, Town of the Undead. On Apple Arcade, River City Survivors.
Can you play Resident Evil on iPhone?
Yes: Resident Evil 2, 4, 7 and Village are on the App Store, free to try and unlocked with one purchase ($39.99 for Resident Evil 2, $59.99 for Resident Evil 4). They need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, an M1 iPad or newer, or an Apple silicon Mac.
Is there a zombie game on Apple Arcade?
Yes: River City Survivors: Downtown of the Dead, a survivor-like brawler from Arc System Works, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
What is the best free zombie game on iPhone with no internet?
Into the Dead 2 and Zombie Catchers both say on their store pages that they play offline, and both are free (with ads and in-app purchases).
Do iPhone zombie games work on iPad and Mac?
Most iPhone games run on iPad, and many on Apple silicon Macs too. Resident Evil 2 and 4, River City Survivors and Town of the Undead all list iPad and Mac on their App Store pages.
