Zombie games for kids and families (no gore, 2026)
By Stefanos Kouzounis · Updated November 2026
Kids love zombies; parents love them a lot less when the game is full of gore, or of buttons that spend real money. This list is the cartoon side of the genre: funny zombies, no blood, age ratings for everyone or close to it.
For each game we list the age rating and, just as important, whether it shows ads and sells in-app purchases, because that's what usually causes trouble on a shared phone.
Town of the Undead — cartoon zombies, no blood, PEGI 7, and nothing to buy inside the game.
We included zombie games rated Everyone, Everyone 10+ or PEGI 7 with cartoon art, and checked each Google Play page in November 2026 for the age rating, the "Contains ads" and "In-app purchases" labels, and offline play.
Two aliens hunt zombies with harpoons and turn them into juice for a business. Funny, gore-free, rated Everyone, and the store page says no internet connection is needed.
The classic: plant sunflowers and peashooters to stop silly zombies on your lawn. The core game plays offline; it is now free with ads and in-app purchases.
$5.99 once · no ads · offline: yes, fully · Android, iOS
Cartoon zombies with no blood, rated PEGI 7. The fighting is a minute-long horde at the garden fence; the rest is farming, building and helping neighbors. For parents the bigger point: there are no ads and no in-app purchases at all, so there's nothing to tap by accident, and it plays offline, so it works on a tablet without internet.
Best for: a calm zombie game you pay for once and play ten minutes at a time
In-app purchases: every free game on this list sells them. Turn on purchase approval (Google Play: Settings → Authentication; iPhone: Screen Time → Content & Privacy) before handing over the phone. Ads: free games show ads that aren't always made for kids. Online chat: none of these is built around chatting with strangers, unlike the big online strategy games, which we left out.
